Time to Unplug and Recharge

2023: The Year to Make Yourself a Priority!

I know that unplugging isn’t an easy task, and it certainly isn’t as simple as it is to to just say the words "unplug". It can make you feel a little guilty for not being available to your family– and I would assume at least one mama reading this might feel the same way and know where I am coming from.

But, it’s not fair to you. You are human. You can't function around the clock for everyone without taking time for yourself. You are not a robotBreaks are necessary.

Honestly, I say these things mostly for myself, because they’re things I need reminders in, but hopefully they’re helpful to you as well.

Consider these 3 tips:

1. Schedule time away. Maybe a mom-cation or an outing with friends or even alone will give you some time to relax and unplug.

2. Share the load.
It's okay to ask for help. Learning the art of delegating is essential. It will have great benefits if you simply just pass on a task or two instead of feeling like you have to do it all.

3. Communication is key!

Your relationship with your spouse/partner makes all the difference in the world when it comes to sharing the load. Be honest about your feelings and your needs. And for my single moms, its important to create a network of support with friends and family. Use this network as a bridge when you need to unplug.

Have a blessed week! You only have one job... Be better than you were yesterday! 😉

Think About This: I Matter Too

I am in a place in my life where I realize that my peace is my top priority. Not money, not even happiness, but peace. Money, you can always find a way to earn. Happiness is a feeling, that comes and goes. It is also a decision. However, peace... can't be bought, borrowed, or found on under the couch. So when you have peace, guard it like your life depends on it... because it does. Self care isn't selfish, it's necessary.

The Best Recipe for Navy Beans: Navy Bean and Ham Soup for an Epic Self Care Day (Great for Crockpots too)

The Best Recipe for Navy Beans: Navy Beans and Ham Soup Recipe for an Epic Self Care Day

This post is all about a recipe for navy beans with navy beans and ham soup. This post will also cover why Navy Bean and Ham Soup is the

best recipe for a simple weeknight dinner to promote self care for busy women and moms. This post will also focus on how you can use this

recipe to get in some extra self care “me time,” and explain what yo yo days are and why you should add a few Yo Yo days into your

weeknight meal planning as well because cooking is self care.

Why is Navy Bean and Ham Soup a great recipe for a simple dinner idea?

As a wife and busy mom of two, sometimes the mere thought of what’s for dinner is agonizing. I am tired and all I want to do is sit myself on

the couch, kick my feet up, and chill especially on Sunday evenings. Does that sound familiar? Right! You know, life can be so busy and hectic

that you have to make sure that you take time out for self-care to check in on your physical, mental, and emotional wellness. Now, I know

you’re thinking, what in the heck does this have to do with Navy Bean Soup? EVERYTHING!

What happens when you need a moment to check in on yourself, to rest and relax, and your kids and family are looking at you like what’s for dinner?

Well, in walks the best ever and tastiest recipe for navy beans: Navy Beans and Ham Soup! Maybe not walking, but you get the idea. ðŸ¤£

It’s All About the Yo Yo Days!

In my house, we’ve started something called YoYo Day. What’s YoYo Day? Well, it is just the most genius idea and perfect solution that every

busy mom needs to have in her self care tool kit!  There’s a very smart mom blogger, who mentioned this in one of her videos.

Essentially Yo-Yo Day is the day that moms choose to chill or get some other needed work done and dinner takes the back seat.

Since dinner is taking the back seat and everyone still has to eat, on this day everyone else will need to figure out ðŸ‘‰YO dinner… ðŸ‘† YO

dinner… and ðŸ‘ˆ YO dinner. Hence the name, Yo Yo Day. Now, I have to be honest, I did tweek this Yo Yo Day a bit to fit our life and home.

However, you can easily incorporate this idea into your weekly weeknight dinner planning. It has become its own staple in my house.  Yo yo

days are my absolute favorite because it allows me some extra self care time. Self care is more than a bubble bath with scented bath salts.

Cooking is self care too. So I thought, what can I cook that is filling and can last a couple of days? A recipe for navy beans for the win!

If You’ve Just Had a Baby and You’re Feeling Exhausted, Mom... You Need Self Care and You’re in The Right Place!

Is self care important to you as a new mom?

Is self care important enough to make it a priority?

As mamas, we have a tendency to put everything and everybody before our wants, needs, our health, and our self care or self love as some call it too.

You don’t have time to worry with or think about how many types of self care there are, how self care benefits you or how self care can improve your mental health.

You don’t have time to even consider how often you should practice self care or what self care activities even exist because there is always so much to do… for everyone else!

You put on your happy face, a happy face mask sometimes, and tell yourself you can do this.

But, the real truth is, this is hard, battery draining, and can leave you feeling overwhelmed, irritable, and quite frustrated to say the least.

Girl, you just had a baby for goodness sake.

You’re body is trying to recover from delivery whether that was by c-section or vaginal delivery.

You are busy changing diapers, figuring out the breastfeeding and pumping schedule, doing laundry, figuring out food…hopefully, and trying to squeeze in some shut eye wherever it may fit in!

I know how that feels because I have two kids, I have done it twice… and had 2 c-sections.
