Why is Navy Bean and Ham Soup a great recipe for a simple dinner idea?
As a wife and busy mom of two, sometimes the mere thought of what’s for dinner is agonizing. I am tired and all I want to do is sit myself on
the couch, kick my feet up, and chill especially on Sunday evenings. Does that sound familiar? Right! You know, life can be so busy and hectic
that you have to make sure that you take time out for self-care to check in on your physical, mental, and emotional wellness. Now, I know
you’re thinking, what in the heck does this have to do with Navy Bean Soup? EVERYTHING!
What happens when you need a moment to check in on yourself, to rest and relax, and your kids and family are looking at you like what’s for dinner?
Well, in walks the best ever and tastiest recipe for navy beans: Navy Beans and Ham Soup! Maybe not walking, but you get the idea.
It’s All About the Yo Yo Days!
In my house, we’ve started something called YoYo Day. What’s YoYo Day? Well, it is just the most genius idea and perfect solution that every
busy mom needs to have in her self care tool kit! There’s a very smart mom blogger, who mentioned this in one of her videos.
Essentially Yo-Yo Day is the day that moms choose to chill or get some other needed work done and dinner takes the back seat.
Since dinner is taking the back seat and everyone still has to eat, on this day everyone else will need to figure out YO dinner… YO
dinner… and YO dinner. Hence the name, Yo Yo Day. Now, I have to be honest, I did tweek this Yo Yo Day a bit to fit our life and home.
However, you can easily incorporate this idea into your weekly weeknight dinner planning. It has become its own staple in my house. Yo yo
days are my absolute favorite because it allows me some extra self care time. Self care is more than a bubble bath with scented bath salts.
Cooking is self care too. So I thought, what can I cook that is filling and can last a couple of days? A recipe for navy beans for the win!
